The Sports News

Manchester United have had their title hopes dashed today as they lost to their derby rivals Manchester City.

United are now two points behind leaders Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

It seems that the Champions have some work to do and their loss today will surely be a disappointment to manager Alex Ferguson.

Indeed, United have still got their superstar, Christiano Ronaldo, but the question is could they continue to win should he get injured?

With Arsenal's Adebayor on top form and an almost sure win tomorrow against Blackburn, could they possibly win the league with just the skills of one man?

Rooney hasn't performed as well this season and, worryingly for the Reds, goals could be in abundance should their key winger not be able to play.

It does create the debate as to whether this country has any good strikers.

Michael Owen, like Rooney, is failing to score as much as he should, therefore showing no suprise that we didn't qualify for this year's European tournament.

Let's hope that this can be reconciled before the run-up to the World Cup in 2010.
