FBD: Week Three

After my accidental chocolate brownie, I was determined to eat better for the rest of the week.

However, the no alcohol rule was threatening to seriously disturb my nights out. A cheeky few on a Saturday night would be fine, surely?

A few turned into a lot, though. No takeaway meant I was still craving something greasy the day after and I fear that I caved when walking past a McDonalds.

It's fine, I told myself, looking into my reflection through the doors of the fast food outlet.

I could tell that I had more of a definition in my hip-area and my belly certainly didn't over-hang anymore.

Also, I managed to fit myself into a size 10 dress, something I haven't achieved since I was 15.

FBD: Oops

I had been doing well all week and then I went out for dinner.

What the diet doesn't tell you is what you can and can't have when you go for a meal.

I went to a lovely Italian restaurant, which obviously served the usual calorie-ridden foods, like pizzas and pastas. Oh cheese! How I miss it!

I didn't want a boring salad. Leaves on plate? No thank you!

So, after much deliberation (and anger from my boyfriend over the time I was taking) I decided to go for chicken penne. Sounds pretty healthy, I thought.

Unfortunately, I didn't realise about the cheese sauce that came with it, and before too long I was gulfing down however many calories.

Bugger it, I thought, as the dessert menu was placed in front of me. The chocolate brownie sounded too delicious to resist, however, and I gobbled that down too.

Getting home was a nightmare. My stomach churned, as though it were rejecting what I had just eaten.

Damn.

FBD: Week Two

My legs are continuing to shrink! No, not in length, but in width.

Currently, I am contemplating chocolate but I aim to keep strong. Oh so strong.

I was a little naughty this past week. I have reverted back to bread, but only have it every other day.

My coffee intake, low and behold, has gone down and when I do have it, I tend to have the skinny options from my favourite coffee shop. I'm getting half a caffeine kick, but halving the calories.

My stomach is looking a little flatter now and I am keeping to the veg, fruit and water they suggest, as well as eating more fish.

Treats have been kept to a minimum.

After this week, I have lost a total of 4 pounds.

Flat Belly Diet: End of week one

So, as my quest for the flat belly continues, I realise something: I still have a belly.

There are two things fundementally wrong with this diet; one is that my appetitie has gone and attempting to eat full meals is a chore. Maybe it's my mentality and not the diet, but I am seriously not enjoying food anymore.

Secondly, coffee now makes me feel sick. How can a humble journalist like myself last without her caffeine boost?

It's been a good week and I do feel more conscious about what I eat and drink. My portion sizes have gone down and my alcohol intake (shock!) has gone to nil.

The diet is certainly good for losing a few pounds if you need it, say just before a holiday or a big event, but I can't see how you can lose fat off your tum without doing a few crunches?

Hmmm, perhaps another week of it will do the trick?

Flat Belly Diet: Day Four

Breakfast: Rice Crispies
Lunch: Tinned tuna
Snack: Cereal
Dinner: Pasta salad

No, you haven't read it wrong. I have had the exact same set menu as yesterday. It is possibly the worst de ja vu I have ever had.

But today was the last day of almost starvation.

Tomorrow I'm back to 'normal' eating...minus all the junk I used to eat.

I seem to have lost a number of pounds though. Belly seems to be de-bloated, which is what these four days promised, but my legs now look like toothpicks. Strange how it has gone from there also.

The only problem now is that I have realised that my arms look huge. Urgh, who needs perfection?

Flat Belly Diet: Day Three

Breakfast: Rice Crispies
Lunch: Tin of tuna
Snack: Cereal bar
Dinner: Pasta salad

Starting to get as bored of reading the menu as me?

I did cheat a little today. I had a square of dark chocolate. Naughty me!

I was feeling a little weak, being a sugar fiend and all, so decided to take the opportunity to indulge in a treat. Also, pasta is not on the set menu, but it was all i had in to eat.

The benefits, though, are starting to show.

I feel like I have detoxed myself through all the water I've been drinking...and of course subsequently with all the wee-ing!

Nothing on the belly front though, although my legs seem to be thinner. Strange.

Flat Belly Diet: Day Two

Breakfast: Rice Crispies
Lunch: Turkey slices
Snacks: Cereal bar
Dinner: Salmon, potatoes and green beans

Today was not so good.

It started off easy, with breakfast being what I'd probably eat anyway, but after another day of just turkey for lunch and no caffeine, I'm beginning to get a little exhausted.

The daily commute has taken the energy out of me.

Also, quite embarrassingly, I constantly need the toilet. I had read experts' advice about the diet previous to starting it and some had said that the weight you lose is water weight and not fat. The theory seems to be correct.

Flat Belly Diet: Day One

Breakfast: Rice Crispies
Lunch: Turkey Slices
Snack: Smoothie and poppy seeds.
Dinner: Cod, potatoes, green beans.

Today wasn't too bad.

Despite missing my daily latte, the camomile tea did do the trick (despite the fact it made me incredibly tired) and I didn't feel that hungry.

The snack I had, poppy seeds, was enough to fill my appetite, but alas they weren't chocolate!

The only problem was that I didn't get home until 7.30 in the evening, and eating at 8 is not ideal.

The sassy water wasn't as disgusting as I though it would be.

All in all, today was pretty good...but I do have another 3 days to suffer!

Finding a Diet

As I'm sat scouring the Internet (and eating the chocolate left over from Valentine's Day) I'm wondering about the best way to lose weight.

There are so many diets: the Atkins, the Zone, even a cookie diet. Sounds good!

Then, randomly, my eyes set on one in particular; the Flat Belly Plan. According to its website (www.flat-belly-diet.co.uk) you don't have to do any exercise (great!) and you can lose 15lb in 32 days (even better!).

Looking at the diet, however, it seems a bit extreme. Lunch consists of a slice of sandwich turkey, cherry tomatoes and cheese string. Also, there is a nasty sounding drink containing water, cucumber, ginger, mint and lemon.

This is, however, just a 4 day de-bloat. Sounds OK to do for such a short amount of time, and Daily Mail readers claimed to have lost 7lbs in this period. Fab.

Reading over what I can eat, I notice something vital missing. Something I can't live without.

Where is coffee?!

Feeling a little optimistic, call it a surge of will, I agree that this shall be my chosen diet for the next two weeks.

Will I survive? We shall just have to see.
